FREEWAY PARK

Pigott Corridor at Freeway Park is a complicated geometric design that encompasses both ramps and stairs and is often used to travel to or from downtown Seattle. There is a natural circulation of the structure due to the continuous ramps and sequential staircases. Trees have been planted amidst the hard concrete landscape to soften the park and to incorporate the natural realm. There are also three water features included, each stationed as different stages of the ascending and/or descending journey. Pigott Corridor provides users with a peaceful separation from the world that surrounds them.

Freeway Park was the focus of my first project in an architecture class. We were require to take measurements of the park, create original drawings of the park by sketching on site (no cameras allowed), create certain drawings, and much more. We did not use any form of measuring tool to take measurements of the park because we were required to use our body to make measurements. This project taught me how to get a project done without outside help from rulers, etc. and how to create certain types of drawings.
